Use this product to reveal the highest reflectivities in all echoes, examine storm structure features, and determine the intensity of storms. Low/Mid/High Layer Composite Reflectivity is a display of maximum reflectivity for three different height ranges within the volume scan. Low/Mid/High Layer Composite Reflectivity (NLL/65, NML/66, NHL/90, NLA/67) These products reveal the highest reflectivities in all echoes, examine storm structure features, and determine the intensity of storms. Composite Reflectivity (NCO/36, NCR/37, NCZ/38)Ĭomposite Reflectivity displays the maximum reflectivity from all scanned heights above the ground during the volume scan. This product's primary use is to estimate turbulence associated with mesocyclones and boundaries. Base Spectrum Width (NSP/28, NSW/30)Ī measure of velocity dispersion within the radar sample volume. Comparing the storm relative motion image with base velocity image helps identify the rotating storm. ![]() Color indices are the same as base velocity. Storm Relative Velocity (N0S, N1S, N2S, N3S/56)Ī stationary storm image that is generated by removing storm motion measurements from the wind field. The same as N*V products defined above, except data values are actual velocity values instead of categories, data extends to further range, and additional elevations are available. Digital Base Velocity (NXU, NYU, NZU, N0U, NAU, N1U, NBU, N2U, N3U/99) Scientists use these products to estimate wind speed and direction, locate boundaries, locate severe weather signatures, and identify suspected areas of turbulence. Cool colors (green) represent negative values and warm colors (red) represent positive values. Base Velocity (N0W/25, N0V, N1V, N2V, N3V/27)Ī measure of the radial component of the wind either toward the radar (negative values) or away from the radar (positive values). Specific elevation angles depend on the site and scanning mode of the Radar. Products from elevation angles at or below 3.5 degrees are available, and select sites may also scan at an additional low elevation angle, as low as -0.2 degrees. The same as N*R products defined above, except data values are actual reflectivity values instead of categories, data extends to further range, and additional elevations are available. Digital Base Reflectivity (NXQ, NYQ, NZQ, N0Q, NAQ, N1Q, NBQ, N2Q, N3Q/94) Sixteen possible data levels are also available. Four low elevation angles are available, with specific elevation angles depending on the scanning mode of the Radar. Scientists use these products to detect precipitation, evaluate storm structure, locate boundaries, and determine hail potential. Most 元 products are available as digital images, color hard copy, grayscale hard copy, or acetate overlay copy. Over 75 Level-III (元) products are routinely available from NCEI. A data file consists of a 24-byte volume scan header record followed by numerous 2,432-byte base data and message records. Data are stored in files that typically contain four, five, six, or ten minutes of base data depending on the volume coverage pattern. Additional categories include dual-polarization base data of differential reflectivity, correlation coefficient, and differential phase. Level-II (L2) data are grouped into three meteorological base quantities: reflectivity, mean radial velocity, and spectrum width. Request Offline Data NEXRAD Level-II (Base) Data This dataset is not currently available for direct download from NCEI, but is available by request from the offline archive. An inventory of events is available here. An event summary file with descriptive information is included for each case study. The data files have been aggregated by event and by hour for the archive with a total data volume of approximately 20 TB. The data files are in the native compressed file format as Time Series (TS) Archive. The number of case studies per year ranges from 1 to 33, with an average of approximately 10 per year. ![]() The period of record is from 2008 to present with additional data years planned. The blog is full of great ideas for parenting and homeschooling special needs kids and has tons of free printables, so it's very worthwhile to visit. I think we should do that before our trip as well. Her family went to the courthouse with backpacks full of belongings to practice going through security, as one of their pre-flight activities. She is raising four special needs kids and did an extensive preparation period before they took their first airplane trip. I highly recommend checking out the blog post at Every Star is Different. The best part is that you can print this book off as many times as you'd like (personal use only), so your child can color it on every flight! I recommend these twist up colored pencils for coloring although triangular crayons might be better for some kids, as they won't roll off the tray table. Your child can work on the pictures while on the plane. There are 16 pages, which includes the text from the social story and a few more fun prompts. The coloring book is set up to be printed back to back and folded into a booklet. ![]() These one should be fine and hopefully the others will as well. They messed up my entire library (almost 1000 between my two blogs), and I'm still trying to get them all fixed. If you're having trouble with my other printables, blame Google. Then, review one card at a time just before you experience it on the journey. Read through the cards frequently before you get to the airport. I included a spot on the cards to guide your hole punching, so you can put them on a keyring or lanyard. I recommend cutting them apart, and then laminating them for durability. The color printable includes 12 cards that you can print and use before and during your trip. So hard! The story talks about arriving at the airport, checking bags at the ticket counter, going through security, boarding the plane, behavior while on the plane, and other important things your child needs to know. My goal with this social story was to cover all the major moments in airplane travel, while still keeping the context short and simple. The creator made it super easy to make the social story with a matching coloring book. ![]() I am so happy that she offers her art in both color and black and white. I found all these great airplane travel graphics from Educlips on Teachers Pay Teachers. ![]() ![]() I do, however, believe that every child should have a shot at understanding and learning about coding. Should everyone learn to code? Maybe, maybe not…but that is not exactly what I aim to debate on this blog (although I welcome the debate if it happens!) We began by watching the Hour of Code Video Introduction together, which got her excited about being one of “10 million” students to try “An Hour of Code” (and the number is currently much higher). She loves reading, and has been known to read a novel per day.As long as I’ve known her, she has used gift-getting holidays as opportunities to raise money for animal charities. She insists on solving real world math problems in her head when they present themselves (before adults can tell her the answer). She is endlessly creative and self-motivated, loves art, theater and making all different types of things. She loves animals, and wants to be a vet when she grows up.This provides an interesting context for coding with her: She is technically a digital native, but does not actually engage with digital media herself very often. ![]() Thus, Z does not use computers or watch media at school, but she engages in these things very minimally and very mindfully at home. They choose to not completely swear off technology, but rather to have regular conversations about when and why technology can be appropriate. Her family takes an inspiring approach to this recommendation. Waldorf schools discourage children’s use of technology at school and home. Z is 10 years old, and currently a fourth grader at a Waldorf school. I was curious what I would learn by watching a young digital native engage with coding. I intentionally did not explore too much beforehand, wanting to experience the learning process alongside the girl (I will call her Z). I recently completed with my first Hour of Code experiment with a young friend. Her last two Halloween costumes were “Cleopatra” and “movie star”…with the big personality to pull them off.Is naturally social and enjoys getting to know all kinds of different people. She is a loving caretaker to many furry creatures at her home. Has a natural and powerful connection with animals. She loves all things creative, and is an avid crafter. She lists her favorite subjects as reading, math, and art.Q is an eight year old girl in second grade: He has a great sense of style, from mohawks to hipster glasses. He loves the rain and Seattle, aspiring to live there when he grows up.He is caring, thoughtful, and has been known to win awards at school for character and citizenship. He lists his favorite subjects as P.E.Here’s a little bit more about them as individuals: Their school employs a fairly traditional approach to education, incorporating computers and other technology as learning tools, balanced with common methods of teaching al subject matter. They both attend a public neighborhood school near their house in the Denver Metro Area. I invited two siblings, L and Q, to code with me. I was feeling much more brave before this second time, and was interested what it would be like to work with two children at the same time. I had explored only minimally in preparation for my previous experience, and was able to follow and support a fairly open-ended exploration by 10 year old Z. With one Hour of Code experience under my belt, I invited two more friends to code with me. Individuals with PTSD have shown to have normal to low levels of cortisol and elevated levels of corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF) despite their ongoing stress. Here's the most commonly used formula to find the Pearson correlation coefficient, also called Pearson's R:Īt times, you may come across two other formulas for calculating the sample correlation coefficient (r) and the population correlation coefficient (ρ). In statistics, it is the most popular correlation type, and if you are dealing with a "correlation coefficient" without further qualification, it's most likely to be the Pearson. In simple terms, the Pearson Correlation answers the question: Can the data be represented on a line? Pearson Correlation, the full name is the Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC), is used to evaluate linear relationships between data when a change in one variable is associated with a proportional change in the other variable. In this tutorial, we will focus on the most common one. In statistics, they measure several types of correlation depending on type of the data you are working with.
